The Waves of Kindness debuted on May 10, 2025 at the International Festival in Rancho Cordova, California. Thanks to the City of Rancho Cordova mini-grant that made this project possible. Hundreds of kids and families designed their own pennant to show how they CAN Make a Difference. The finished product will be on display in City Hall.

A Community Steps In

“Even the teacher got involved.”

At White Rock Elementary, bringing Waves of Kindness™ to life became a collaborative effort, with people stepping in to help install the display and teachers joining the experience.

Bringing Everybody Together

“That was the greatest part, bringing everybody together.”

Students, parents and volunteers came together through cooperation, creativity and fun—with older students helping younger children and families participating alongside them.

We’ve Got It

“Our behavior team, our mental health specialists, they jumped in and said, ‘We’ve got it. We’ll do it at recess.’”

When one teacher couldn’t manage another activity during the school day, the Climate/PBIS team found a solution—showing that Waves of Kindness™ can become a collaborative school-wide effort rather than one more task for teachers.

A Whole-School Moment

“How often do you get to do something as a whole school where everybody gets brought together?”

Students and staff came together to create something every child could contribute to—and proudly recognize as their own once it was displayed.

Seeing Something More

“It’s nice to know they have that motivation to want to be doing really well and be kind.”

A mental health specialist saw meaningful responses from students who don’t always outwardly demonstrate kindness—including a desire to make their teachers happy, succeed in school and be kind.
